Juicy Chemistry Argan, Coconut Milk & Ghee Shampoo Bar Review

Juicy Chemistry Argan, Coconut Milk & Ghee Shampoo Bar Review

I am blogging after a long long time. Blame it on my hectic schedule or social commitments, I could not make it to my laptop for composing a blog post. Nevertheless, my heart longed for penning down a haircare product review. Few days back, Juicy Chemistry came up with their Independence Day Offer – A whooping FLAT 20% off on all their products. When I woke up to this offer, I immediately made a mental note of all that I had been wanting for try for a long time, and added the products into my cart, before they went out of stock. The flat 20% off was an irresistible offer, specially for people like me who swear by this brand. Now, let me introduce this brand to you (just in case you have not heard about them yet).

Their website reads “Juicy Chemistry was co-founded by Pritesh & Megha Asher in 2014, with a goal to provide effective organic skin care products formulated with the purest and the most nutrient rich ingredients. All the products are made from wild-harvested ingredients, steam distilled & cold pressed oils and are free from parabens, preservatives, petroleum products, artificial perfumes, alcohol, etc.

Now how cool is that? Hand crafted, organic products that are free from chemicals and preservatives. I have been their loyal customer for about a year now, and I keep coming back to them for my skincare products.

Okay, now without further delay, let me take you through what I had ordered this time.

Hazelnut, Almond Milk & Coffee Soap (Normal to Dry Skin)
1 Rs.550.00
Sweet Orange, Cinnamon & Honey Body Polish (For Normal/Tanned Skin Type)
Size: 75g
1 Rs.600.00
Argan, Coconut Milk & Ghee Shampoo Bar (For Dry & Frizzy Hair)
1 Rs.637.50
Peppermint & Tea Tree Hand & Foot Cream
Size: 35g
1 Rs.600.00

The loofah, wooden spoon and wooden soap stand came complimentary. How thoughtful of the brand to have packed these along with the products!

The package arrived within 3-4 days of ordering. I had also received sms and emails from time to time about the status of my order. The products came secured, tightly wrapped up in a box. As soon as I unpacked the box, my room smelt heavenly.

Today I will be reviewing their Argan, Coconut Milk & Ghee Shampoo Bar (For Dry & Frizzy Hair) Shampoo Bar. The packaging of the soaps and shampoo bars was quite interesting. They had used bamboo pouches for packing the product. Inside, the bars were sealed in transparent sheets.

Ingredients

Ginger Essential Oil, Lemon Essential Oil, French Green Clay, Lemon Hydrosol, Orgnanic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Sodium Hydroxide & Rice Water.

My take on this : Their website mentions a set of ingredients that is quite different from what has been mentioned in the packaging that I received. Wondering why! Their website mentions Mango Butter, Shea Butter, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Argan Oil, Avocado Oil, Coconut Milk, Ghee, Cedarwood Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, Chamomile Essential Oil, Myrrh Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil, Lemon Essential Oil & Sodium Hydroxide

Usage

Their website says : Gently rub the bar between your hands and then apply this onto wet scalp and massage well. Wash off thoroughly. Ensure that the shampoo bar is drained well after use. Follow up with one of our hair care serums.

My take on this: This is exactly how I ended up using the product. But to avoid wastage, I had cut the shampoo bar into three equal pieces with a knife. I used one of the pieces, while I stored the other 2 pieces packed into a wooden box in the refrigerator.

Review

Now the actual part. Well, I have never used a Shampoo Bar before. The thought of cleaning my hair without a liquid cleanser felt strange enough. However, when I learnt that the only way you can avoid chemicals into your hair cleanser is by retaining it in its powdery/solidified form, I had to change my perception. Liquid hair cleansers contain parabens and sulphates to produce lather, and what appears as a cleanser ends up doing more harm than good to your tresses. Whereas, this shampoo bar does not contain any chemicals or preservatives. It felt gentle enough on my hair and hardly produced any lather. In fact, it tackled my problem of managing frizzy hair quite well, while cleaning my scalp. Initially, my hair felt a little dry, but after 2-3 hours, it felt moisturised. My hair actually felt soft, shiny, and manageable. The fragrance was neither too strong, nor too mild. It smelt of herbal multani mitti to me.

Thumbs Up for :

  • The packaging
  • Being Chemical/Preservative free
  • Free from animal testing
  • Does not have any strong fragrance
  • Is easy to use

Thumbs Down for:

  • Being Pricey (Original price is Rs.750/- and not many can afford it)
  • The ingredients on the label are not at par with what is indicate din their website

Would I buy it again?

Well that I would definitely be able to say when I am using the last shampoo bar in my stock. As of now, I would consider buying it at a discounted price again.

  • For 750/- INR, I think that’s ludicrous to be frank. I understand that going au naturel is the way forward, but I also hold the view that going so wisely is the right way because a lot of blatant overcharging happens when one sticks the “organic” tag on their products. Purely my opinion.

Anyway, I like how elegant your blog is. Pretty easy on my eyes ?

    • Thank you for your comments. Yes, 750/- INR is pretty expensive, hence I will be purchasing them only when the products are on SALE. Also, the product is going to last me for a good six months, so 100/- for a month’s stock of haircare will not be a bad idea!

We would love to hear your comments
