2024 Roundup – Looking back | TicTalkToe
Looking back to 2024, what a fantastic year it has been! From solo travel to a much awaited recognition at workplace, I saw it all.
The year started with Tara’s haath e khori during Saraswati Puja (you can find a complete blog post dedicated to it here), followed by my first invitation as a blogger to an event with Tara organised by AptaGrow (Co-incidentally Tara used to drink it then). March was rough since Tara developed herpes on her tongue and we were almost on the verge of hospitalising her. This was very overwhelming for me as a parent. The infection could not be detected by a number of doctors, and ultimately Dr. Apurba Ghosh stepped in as a saviour and we did not have to hospitalise her! This was rough on both Tara and our family, since she lost weight rapidly and was in a lot of pain. Tara was weaned off bottles then and there. I found it easier to do so by hiding her bottles. In the same month, we travelled to Pondicherry as a family and took a small break. Thereafter, in April, she got pee and potty trained in a week’s time and getting off diapers felt like a major achievement (only parents who have been through this ordeal know what it feels like!).
Tara turned three in May. I developed a lot of back pain and finally started yoga in June (I have a blog post dedicated to my journey here). In July, we started hunting for Tara’s school admissions and went through a lot of anxiety and background check for her school. Tara was interviewed for the first time in her life and got through a school in August. We sealed on her school admission soon after. I also took my first solo break as a parent in August and visited my friend in Delhi. This was much needed, considering I was craving to meet her since long! We also did a small staycation and am so glad I ditched the mom-guilt and took a break! An appreciation and much deserved appraisal followed at workplace, which made me happy.
September-October was packed with festivities! Durga Pujo, Lokkhi Pujo (Tara sang “esho maa lokkhi” on her own). We travelled to Goa as a family during Kali Pujo/Diwali. I turned 37. We booked an Airbnb for almost a week, which was very close to the Vagator beach and had a pool too! We also visited Puri by November end, and by December, Tara was completely weaned off! She started drinking warm milk from an open glass (without sugar or any additives), and personally I feel it has helped her wean off. (On another note, would you want me to share my journey on weaning Tara? Do let me know).
The last weekend of 2024 saw me visit a friend in Odisha, and we caught up after what felt like ages! Baked my usual christmas cake and laughed off at our old jokes until our stomach hurt.
If you ask me, yes there was nothing substantial that happened in 2024, yet a lot happened in between. A lot of travel, saw my toddler getting independent, shifted my focus to my health. Here’s hoping a better start to 2025.
