I got my first MAC lipstick in 2011 while I was shopping for my wedding. I told the Sales Assistant that I am not a regular lipstick use and wanted one that is subtle and can be used on occasions. The Sales Assistant persuaded me to buy the shade “Capricious“. I did not think twice before making my first purchase, however, I was very disappointed when I used it at home. It felt very sheer and the colour did not compliment my skin tone. My mom visited the store soon after and got the shade DIVA for her! Then I started following Beauty Bloggers and came to know about some of their iconic shades, such as Ruby Woo and RiRi Woo. Precisely, that is how my journey with MAC Lipsticks started, and much later in 2014 I added the next MAC lipstick to my kitty – Viva Glam One and Dark Side.
I get a lot of questions on picking the right shade of lipstick online, specially from people who share my skin tone (for your reference, I am MAC NC 45). Now this can be quite tricky, specially because different people have different undertones, and it becomes very difficult to suggest a shade without seeing the person. Specially after MAC launched the Little MAC collection in India, it became an affordable option to quite many out here, and I would often get questions from every other person, which MAC lipstick will suit my skintone? This prompted me to compile the swatches of all the MAC lipsticks that I have.
At present I have managed to add 15 Mac Lipsticks to my kitty. Thankfully, all of them have been picked up by me after swatching them at the store. They suit and flatter my skin tone. The shades mostly range in between Reds, Maroons and Browns. This post will be a swatch plus of all the MAC Lipsticks that I have in my stash.
Most of us are familiar with the packaging of MAC Lipsticks. It comes in a black metal case, and the cap shuts with a click. The brand name is printed in Silver colour on the cap. The packaging is classy and travel friendly. The name of the shade, formula and batch number is indicated at the bottom of the lipstick. You will find it difficult to locate a particular shade, in case you own multiple Mac Lipsticks and are in a hurry. The lipstick comes in a black cardboard box which has evolved recently. The box now indicates the shade of the lipstick as well. The bullet has a faint vanilla fragrance that is the signature fragrance for MAC Lipsticks.
