Dry Fruit Laddoo | Protein Laddoo| Sugar-Free Laddoo| Cook Na Kaho | Recipe Post

Here comes another recipe post from my kitchen, something that is guilt-free and will make it up for your sugar cravings. Few days back, I tried my hands at making Dry Fruit Laddoo, and was flooded with recipe requests for it. Also, I was renewing my domain for my Blog this morning, when my husband exclaimed “Please do continue writing blog posts, your readers must be missing them!” That little bit of motivation pushed me to give this post a shape on my Blog.

Also, huge apologies for missing in action! A lot of things have been coming my way of late, and fikar not, I am documenting it all on my blog, and will be definitely sharing it with my blogging family in the next few weeks.

Coming back to the Laddoos, this recipe is absolutely sugar-free and high on protein, which means, you can binge on these without any guilt. They also require very few ingredients and can be customised as per your choice of nuts. Also, they require very little time to make, so brownie points for busy individuals! Do ensure that you are not allergic to any of these nuts before you try them out.

Ingredients

  • Almonds
  • Cashew
  • Raisins
  • Walnut
  • Pista
  • Pumpkin Seeds
  • Melon Seeds
  • Groundnuts
  • Deseeded Dates
  • Flax Seeds
  • Cardamom Powder (optional)
  • Ghee
  • Coconut Powder (optional)

Method

I have not specified the quantity for any of the above ingredients, because you need to use them as per your choice and convenience. You can always modify the proportions. Just ensure that the dates are deseeded and are of good quality because it will be the only binding agent here. I ended up using about 50 to 100 grams of each.

  • Take a heavy bottomed pan and dry roast cashew, almonds, walnut, pista, pumpkin seeds, melon seeds, flax seeds. groundnuts all one by one. Allow it to cool on a plate and grind them coarsely in your mixer-grinder.
  • Next take some ghee in the same pan and fry the raisins for five to ten seconds. Keep them separately.
  • In the same pan, add a little more ghee and then the dates. Keep stirring it, so that the dates do not stick to the pan. The dates will turn soft and pulpy. This will take anything between ten to fifteen minutes of your time, but ensure that you are closely monitoring the entire procedure.
  • Once the dates turn pulpy, add in the coarsely grinded dry fruits powder and the raisins. Keep stirring it for another two to three minutes.
  • Add in the coconut powder and cardamom (totally optional).
  • Shut the flame and allow the mixture to cool.
  • Next grease your palms with a little ghee and roll out the laddoos in balls while they are still hot. This needs to be done quickly and carefully so that you do not end up burning your hands. However, if the mixture cools down, the laddoos wont bind.
  • Once done, store the laddoos in an air-tight container and binge guilt-free!

Pretty easy? Ain’t it? Both kids and adults will love these. Infact you can even make these during festivals, and gain brownie points for serving them to your guests, instead of store bought laddoos.

Trying them out? Do share a picture of your laddoos in case you prepare them! It gives me immense joy and satisfaction to see the recipes being re-created.

More blog posts coming up your way in the next few weeks. Till then, stay tuned.
