Five Tips for Effective Time Management | Quick Ideas
After my last post on Managing Without A Maid In India, a lot of you have messaged me personally, thanked me for my ideas, and have even let me know that my post has inspired you! I am forever grateful to my awesome readers for their feedback, because without your constant feedback and motivation, I wouldn’t have even contemplated blogging.
In line with my last post, here is another one which talks about managing time efficiently. I am sharing some tips on how to manage time efficiently, which have helped me a lot, and I hope these help you too.
I often get asked “How do you manage to do all this in a single day?“
Trust me when I say, it is nothing but managing time and your priorities. There are days when I get up late, and have to prioritize taking a bath over preparing my breakfast. And so on…. Hence, the key lies in planning and prioritizing.
1. Try and wake up at the same time everyday: If it is at 7 a.m., make sure it is 7 a.m. everyday. (Of course Sunday can be an exception!). Set an alarm on your mobile or clock and keep it away from your bed preferably, so that you need to get up to switch it off. Also try and keep your phone miles away from your bed.
2. Plan your day: As soon as you get up, start planning your day. Keep the most important tasks on top priority, followed by the ones that require lesser attention. You will notice that as your day progresses, your stamina decreases and at the end of the day, you might even try skipping a few tasks.
3. Set a routine for exercise: It could be morning walk, 15 minutes of yoga, swimming or hitting the gym. Try and start exercising. Your body will thank you for the 15 minutes that you invest in everyday! You might try and feel demotivated, but with each passing day things will get better. Inspire and motivate yourself to keep yourself fit.
4. Try and be a little less dependent on maids/house help: It has been more than four years since I have moved with my in-laws, and have been managing on my own without hiring a house-help. Of course there are times when I feel like giving up, but then, I shudder to think of the fact that my routine has to be aligned with the maid’s. I am better off without one!
5. Take a break once in a while: While it is very important to stay organized and punctual, it is equally important to let your hair down once in a while and relax. The laundry can wait. Sip the coffee and relax! Paint your nails bright, indulge in a pedicure, and watch the sunset. Recharge and rejuvenate yourself for the grueling week ahead. You have worked really hard throughout the week to keep things in place, so you deserve all of this and much more!
I hope these tips help you stay organised and keep you motivated. We all live the same number of hours everyday, it is just how you decide to make use of the hours that determine your productivity.
Do let me know your thoughts about this post. I will be back with another post soon.
Until then, keep smiling and stay motivated.
I find your blog so helpful. It somehow gives me inspiration.
I am so grateful 🤗
