Eyes – The New Lips | Ft. Colorbar Cosmetics | IT`S A SCANDAL KAJAL | Review Post | Wish Upon A Star Range
Tell me one product that can change your entire look in a jiffy? I know the unanimous answer would be kohl, or kajal as well all know it. Although I am a lip makeup lover, I know plenty of women who swear by kajal on a daily basis and look really different when they step out without wearing one. As for me, I am a “chashmish” girl and hence do not indulge much in eye makeup.
Fast forward to pandemic, and my collection of over a hundred Lipsticks are lying idle in my makeup drawer. Yes, I too give them a swipe once in a while when at home, but avoid using them while I step out. One because I do not step out frequently, and two, because it stains my mask (no matter how many tall claims the brand has made of being transfer proof)! Hence, left with no other choice, a kajal/kohl is the only makeup that I use while stepping out.
The Colorbar It’s A Scandal Kajal attracted me primarily for a couple of reasons. First, its uncanny resemblance with M.A.C Crayon Kajal Eye Liner (Priced at Rs.2300/-) and Rimmel London Ultimate Kohl Kajal (Priced at Rs.799/-). Also the word “scandal” has been used in Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Liner and Rimmel has introduced the product way before Colorbar! (Sorry I am a Lawyer and cannot ignore these fine details). MAC is way out of my reach and Rimmel London does not have too many shades for my choice or liking (the ones available are mostly out of stock on Nykaa). Hence, I decided to give Colorbar a chance. The product is from their Wish Upon A Star range, wherein they also have a Perfect Selfie Primer Oil, a Starlit Lip Gloss and a Kiss Proof Lipstick. I have already used Colorbar I-Glide Eye Pencil in Amethyst Spark and Glowing Sapphire, however the only con was that they had to be sharpened which was both a hassle and led to a lot of wastage! Also it irritated my waterline. Hence, I decided to give this a shot. Colorbar Cosmetics has priced their Kajal at Rs.750/- (for 1.4 grams) and is available in as many as seven shades. All the shades are extremely vibrant, but personally I felt 006 Pool Side was the only one that would not suit dusky skin beauties. I wanted to test two shades out of the seven and picked up 005 Quench Me and 007 Last Call. In case I love this with constant use, my next buy will be 003 Hot Chocolate.
The website describes the product as
Get scandalous with our intensely saturated kajal that redefines your eyes with graphic precision. Its vibrant color glides on, even on the waterline. A silky feel for an iconic look that lasts throughout the day, without running or smudging. Just twist it out, get artistic and make a bold statement.
Listing below the ingredients as well from their Website

My honest take on COLORBAR IT`S A SCANDAL KAJAL
Outer Packaging – Do you believe in “pehle darshan dhaari, fir gunn vichaari“. Well I do (most of the times). The packaging for this product is so classy! It comes in a red box (that can be re-used). It contains the name of the shade, ingredients, date of expiry, basically everything you would look forward to.
Product Review – The texture of this product is creamy, so one has to be very careful while applying this. Too much of pressure might result in breaking it, so handle it with light pressure. The pigmentation is on point! One swipe is all you need. It does not transfer easily, so goodbye raccoon eyes. I tried applying this on the waterline after wearing contact lens, and guess what? It did not irritate my eyes. The shades that I picked are absolutely gorgeous. I mean look at the first swatch. It is somewhere in between a teal and denim. The second one is not purple, but a hybrid of purple and brown. It is bound to scream for attention, in case you opt for a bold eye look. It provides an intense colour in just one swipe, and hey jheel jaisi aankhon waali beauties….this can also be used on the waterline! (I am doing a happy dance for sure)
Product Packaging – The twist up mechanism is a boon. Honestly, pre-covid days I used to travel frequently, and carrying a sharpener for my eye or lip pencils was always a hassle. I would often forget to carry one and would end up with blunt kajal tips. These twist up pencils save so much of time and the pointed tip ensure precise application (though I wonder how will I manage with this once the tip gets blunt)!
Longevity – I tested the product on my wrist for 18 hours, and guess what? It lasted so well. I’ll put down pictures so that you can see it for yourself. It came off easily with lukewarm water, hence removal should also not be an issue!
And last but not the least, since it is Colorbar, it is paraben free, cruelty free and dermatologist tested. Safe for your eyes!
Pro Tip – I’ll share a lazy girl hack with you. Applying a thick band of this kohl on your upper eyelids and smudge immediately using a brush or your fingers. You’ll get that beautiful eye-shadow effect without using eye-shadows. Just top it up with some mascara and you are good to go! How cool is that? Just make sure that you blend very well so that there are no harsh lines. Smokey eye look is forever in trend, and you can easily recreate one with this kohl. In case you want me to recreate a short video with the lazy girl hack, just make sure to leave a comment below. I will create one and put it up on my Instagram feed, so make sure you are following me HERE.
Thumbs UP for
- Formula (Butter Soft and Silky)
- Pigmentation (One swipe does the trick)
- Being transfer proof (Lasted for 12 hours easily)
- Smudges easily with fingers
- Can be used as an Eye Shadow/Eye Liner/Kajal – I love multipurpose products
- The design and packaging ensures minimum wastage (Retractable)
- The shades are so gorgeous! I mean look at the blue, brown, green, purple and black.
So that pretty much sums up my review. I can do a quick comparison between all the coloured kohls that I have in my stash. Just drop in a request if you would want me to do so 🙂
I am also delighted to share an exciting news with my readers.

And what more, this code is applicable even when there is an additional discount on their website, or in case they offer a Gift With Purchase. Every purchase you make, gives you discounts and reward points that can be used later. So I totally recommend you to add your favourites to your cart and then check out using the code PRO-XETZCUD1.
