MAC Cosmetics | MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour | Dance With Me | Review | Swatch |
When it comes to luxury brands for lipsticks, MAC is one name that Indian’s are mostly acquainted with! When MAC decided to launch their set of liquid lipcolours, their price point mostly detested me from picking one. However, when my friend Shreya visited my abode one evening, I could not help but compliment her for her lipcolour. On enquiring, I came to know that it was MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in the shade “Dance With Me”. Luckily, she was carrying it with her as well, so I got a chance to swatch it on my lips. And voila, suddenly my face brightened up. My love for this particular shade was instantly born! I ordered it from Myntra soon after, and let me tell you, this shade is absolutely gorgeous. I am wearing Mac “Dance with Me” here, while Shreya is sporting ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Scrooge”.
Mac describes “Dance with Me” as Deep Cranberry Red.
Product Description by MAC
A lip colour that provides a splash of colour in a liquid-suede finish that lingers.
Packaging
The product comes in the regular black cardboard packaging, which has the shade’s name, manufacturing details and ingredients listed on it. The packaging is a hybrid of MAC lipsticks and liquid lip colors. The cap is similar to MAC Lipsticks, but the lower part is transparent. It makes it all the more convenient to locate the shades when you are in a hurry! The bottle is also quite sturdy and the cap screws tight. It is easy to carry around. The applicator tapers towards the tip and is very handy for drawing precise lines.
Texture/Formula
The texture of MAC Dance With Me is what makes it different from its other counterparts. It is smooth and creamy. It is highly pigmented and applies evenly without any patches or streaks. It dries thereafter to a matte finish and settles comfortably on your lips. Dance With Me is a clear winner when it comes to pigmentation and texture. I love how effortless the application is! It also stains up quickly, so if you need to make any corrections while applying it, you need to act fast. It does carry the faint vanilla fragrance that MAC lipsticks have, but again, nothing too overpowering. It does feel a little dry after a while, but then it survives for a good seven to eight hours, and even oily meals! It leaves behind a stain while you take it off your lips, so one must be careful about it.
This is what it looks like when it has been freshly applied.
And after it dries down in a few minutes.
As for the swatches, I will let the photograph do the rest of the talking wink wink. The picture below is what it looks like after four to five hours.
Price
Rs.1900/- (inclusive of all taxes) in India.
$21 plus taxes (In USA)
Thumbs up for
- Pigmentation – One swipe and you are done
- Formula – Extremely smooth texture
- Packaging – Very easy to locate
- The applicator is very handy
- The shade is universally flattering (It looks great on my NC 45 tone)
- The staying power is incredible – tried and tested!
Thumbs down for
- Being expensive (wish it was a little more affordable)
- It does dry out your lips like all other matte lip glosses, so a bit of lip exfoliation is recomended
- It stains very badly, so one needs to be very careful while applying
Will I repurchase it?
This is by far one of my favourite (and probably the most expensive) lip glosses in my stash.
Yes, I am definitely looking forward to their other shades.
Available at all MAC Stores and online on Nykaa, Shoppers Stop and Myntra.

You can try it at Duty Free, else Myntra offers a 10% discount on certain days for purchases above 3000/- INR. I got it from Myntra through that offer.
