We all love free stuff, don’t we? More so, when it pertains to makeup. And did anyone say “Lipstick” as a free gift? It has to be my favourite then! Nykaa had once come up with a free gift on purchases from their in-house brand above Rs.1200/-.  I added Nykaa Matte to Last Liquid Lipstick “Chai” and Nykaa MATTE-ilicious Crayon Lipstick in the shade “Jade Rose” and got Nykaa So Matte! “Orange Vice” absolutely free. During another round of shopping worth Rs.1200/- from Nykaa, I got Nykaa So Matte! “Wicked Wine” absolutely free! Say Yay to freebies!

Nykaa Ultra Matte Lipstick on the other hand was launched much later, where they improvised the formula to give it an ultra matte appearance. I picked up the shade Cleopatra for myself.

Currently, Nykaa So Matte! Lipstick boasts of 50 shades. Yes, FIFTY. Ranging from nudes to pinks; purple to orange; red to maroons, there is a perfect shade for every skin tone! However, I was very apprehensive when Nykaa added the shade “Orange Vice” into my cart automatically. I had never tried Orange colour on my lips, naturally I was hesitant about how it would look on me. I had even made a mental note of gifting it to another friend, in case it did not suit me! Wicked Wine, on the other hand, was a shade that I was actually looking forward to, because deep maroon and wine colours suit my skintone.

Nykaa Ultra Matte Lipstick on the other hand has 18 shades added to its collection presently.

Now let us get into the review-

Packaging: The Lipstick comes in a cardboard packaging box which has all the details on it, such as ingredients, manufacturing date, price, and so on. The lipstick case is matte black in colour and has “Nykaa” embossed over it. It has a magnetic closure with a rectangular packaging, which really gives it a luxurious feel! The shade is indicated at the bottom of the lipstick case along with the number. The packaging reminded me of NARS Audacious Lipstick. The magnetic clasp of the lipstick is a sure-shot show stealer!

Nykaa Ultra Matte Lipstick has a colour coded cap which makes it easier to identify the Lipstick. The rest of the packaging is just the same.

Shade : Orange Vice is a beautiful warm toned orange. It will definitely flatter all skin tones, and the colour pay off is pretty good. It can be used as a daily-wear lip colour.

Wicked Wine is a gorgeous plum-wine colour that can be used for parties or evenings. It has a deep maroon tone to it that flatters my skin tone and brightens my face instantly.

Cleopatra won my heart. The shade flatters my skin tone and it looks like a gorgeous maroon to me.

Texture : Nykaa So Matte! Lipsticks are creamy matte in texture, so they do not go completely matte on your lips. They go comfortably smooth on your lips and are decently pigmented (if not highly)!

Nykaa Ultra Matte Lipstick goes totally matte and does not leave behind any sheen.

Staying Power : Nykaa So Matte! Lipsticks stayed on for a good three to four hours, and transfers. It then fades evenly, and leaven your lips stained. Given the price point, I really cannot complain! This lipstick does not make your lips feel dry.

Nykaa So Matte! Lipsticks are priced at Rs.399 for 4.2 grams of the product, but are mostly available at a discount on Nykaa.

Nykaa Ultra Matte Lipstick on the other hand retails for Rs.599/- for 4.2 grams.

Would I repurchase it? No
