Say P for Pizza | How to make Pizza | Pizza Recipe | Homemade Pizza
Of all my recipe posts till date, this has to be my most impromptu one! When I posted my Pizza photographs on my Instagram Account yesterday, I got at least a dozen of requests for its recipe. Since I value my audience and their contribution to my Blogging journey, I pulled up a late night feat and compiled this post for you all π
Hope you all will love my version of Pizza.
Pizza Base: Okay, so the pizza base is from Spencer’s. I used to buy it from Big Basket earlier, but Spencer’s has a better range (in terms of quality). However, I have been told that making a pizza base is easier than running to Spencer’s for purchasing it! I am yet to try that, and once I make a pizza base at home successfully, I will surely update the same in this post. So keep looking out for it π
Pizza Sauce: This can also be bought from stores (Fun Foods, Veeba), but trust me when I say that nothing comes close to what home-made pizza sauce tastes like. Will share the simplest process here (guided by Nupur).
- Tomatoes 3-4 ripe, medium sized
- Tomato Puree (Store bought/optional)
- Salt, Sugar, Pepper, Oregano Seasoning
- Oil
- Garlic – 5-6 pods finely chopped
- Capsicum – Two Teaspoons finely chopped
- Onion – One Teaspoon finely chopped
- Basil Leaves/Dry Basil/Thyme (optional)
Boil the tomatoes in boiling water and blanch them. Then puree it in a blender once it has cooled down.
Next take a pan, add oil. Once the oil is hot, add chopped garlic, capsicum, onion and fry it for a while. Next add the tomato blend. Add salt, sugar, pepper. Let it come to a boil. Add tomato puree (totally optional, but enhances the colour and taste). Keep boiling and cooking till the mixture is reduced to half. Check that the pizza sauce should not be too runny, else the pizza can get soggy. Season with oregano and basil leaves. This can be kept in an airtight container and refrigerated for seven days easily. It can be even used as a spread for sandwiches/pasta/bread.
Ensure that the pizza sauce has cooled down to normal temperature before you go ahead with the pizza making.
Baking the pizza : This is the easiest of all. Just spread the pizza sauce on the base and assemble the toppings over it of your choice. Add mozzarella cheese. Drizzle oil. Bake. As simple as that. I have added toppings like capsicum, onion, mushrooms, followed by grated mozzarella cheese, basil leaves. You can added shredded chicken, paneer/cottage cheese, chicken tikka, keema, olives, sweet corn, baby corn, basically anything and everything on earth that tastes good over your pizza. I have noticed that mozzarella cheese makes a huge difference to the pizza. Earlier I would use normal processed cheese, and it would taste absolutely different. Try laying your hands on mozzarella cheese if you can. I am using this one.
Baking it in a microwave oven is the simplest. Just set the microwave in convection mode (200 degrees) and pre-heat it. Once pre-heated, bake the pizza at the same temperature for 6 minutes. Once done, grill it for another minute in your microwave. Season it with oregano and chilly flakes. Trust me, if you follow these steps, you will never have those over-priced pizzas in the store ever again! I’ll try and work on my pizza base very soon so that you can have it made at home from scratch!
Am leaving here a small video that demonstrates how exactly I bake it. Hope this helps.
