The Body Shop Spa of the World Review | African Ximenia Scrub | Tahitian Tiaré Body Wash | Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil | TicTalkToe

If you’ve enjoyed reading my Haul Post on The Body Shop Sale 2020, am sure you’ll be looking forward to this.

Spa of the World is hands down the most expensive collection from The Body Shop. Truth be told, I’d never pick up anything from this brand, particularly unless it is on 50% off. Luckily The Body Shops hosts an annual sale in July, and for the last 3 years I have been constantly shopping from their website during their Annual Sale. That way, I get to try their products, which would have otherwise borne a hole in my wallet.

Let me be candid here, some were hits, some were misses! But their Spa of the World Collection is definitely worth the indulgence. Till date I’ve tried four products from the Spa of the World Collection. I shall be reviewing three of them in this post – A Body Scrub, A Body Wash and a Body & Hair Oil.

The Body Shop describes their Spa of the World range as

We know the importance of ‘me’ time, so we’ve created a luxurious Spa Of The World™ range including bath milk, creams, massage oils and exfoliants. With a relaxing, revitalising and a blissful ritual to choose from, you can bring that #spathroom experience directly into your home!

I picked up the products listed below a couple of weeks ago from their website and store while they were on 50% discount. I’ll list down my experience with each. Their Spa of the World Ethiopian Green Coffee Cream is something that I ended up purchasing last year and I totally loved it (my costliest product purchased from their website till date)! Yet the quantity was huge and it took me almost a year and a half to finish the tub. Diving down straight into the review 🙂

Spa Of The World African Ximenia Scrub

The website describes the product as

Handpicked in Namibia from the ‘Tree of Life’, the ximenia fruit seed yields a luxuriously rich oil, leaving skin feeling smoother and softer. Use this rich exfoliating scrub as part

  • Softening body scrub

  • Gently exfoliates skin leaving it silky-soft

  • Relaxes body and mind

  • With ximenia oil from Namibia, Africa

The first thing that you notice is the HUGE tub! Yes it is quite bulky, does not fit into my bathroom cabinet. Since dipping wet hands into the tub is both unhygienic and could lead to product spoilage, I scoop out a bit of it from the jar into a bowl before I head for my shower.

After dampening my skin, I take a little bit of the product and apply it on troubled areas, specially knees and elbows. I leave it on for a minute or two and wash it off. I try and take as many deep breaths as I can during this whole process. The Spa of the World range indeed calms my senses. I follow it up with the Spa Of The World Polynesian Monoï Radiance Oil, which I shall be reviewing next in this post. You can see the formula of the scrub and the way it spreads out in the collage below.

The fragrance is definitely intriguing, something I have never smelt before. It is of a creamy consistency and then swiftly dissolves into the skin, leaving it soft and refreshed. Great for people who have dry skin (I always prefer cream scrubs to gels). The scrub is mild and does not irritate my skin. This will be a good choice for winters as well (Earlier I used their Wild Argan Oil Scrub, which is also really good, but harsher than this one).

If you like indulging and pampering yourself, please pick this product. You’ll not regret for sure. However oily skin beauties, would advise you to stay away from it. This is one of the mildest scrubs I have ever used that does its job so well. So glad I picked this up over everything else!

Spa Of The World Polynesian Monoï Radiance Oil

When I was adding this product to my cart, I was torn in between their Lemongrass oil and this one. I love anything that smells of Lemongrass but the moment I noticed that this works both for the body and hair, I picked this without a second thought. I love products that are multipurpose, it saves me so much of time and effort!

The website describes this as

Used by the women of the Pacific Islands for over 2,000 years for luscious, glowing skin and hair, Monoï is a sacred blend of coconut oil and fragrant tiare flowers – a sublime escape to paradise. Use this radiance-enhancing oil as part of our blissful ritual when your body is in need of luxury.

  • Radiant body & hair oil

  • Adds lustre and leaves skin and hair feeling conditioned

  • Indulges body and mind

  • With tiare flower from French Polynesia

  • This product is not part of any promotion

I usually massage this on my damp skin after bath everyday. I also use a pea sized amount on my hair twice or thrice a week before bedtime. Not that it has helped me with my hair loss or anything, but when I shampoo my hair the next day, it gives an amazing shine! This works as a great pre-shampoo treat. Initially while applying, you might feel it is heavy, but soon after you’ll feel your skin absorbing all of it leaving behind a sheen. A detailed collage of the texture and the sheen the oil leaves behind is given below.

It works great for my dry skin, my body shows signs of dry patches when winter sets in, this will surely be a great treat then. And the smell is amazing! Something again that I cannot describe, but intrigues your senses! As if you have been to a spa. A couple of drops is all I need everyday, so I guess this bottle will also last me long.

Spa of the World™ Tahitian Tiaré Body Wash

I picked this from their retail store in South City Mall. Was lucky because this was the last piece in stock in that store. Could not smell it due to obvious reasons (pandemic hygiene). Got it home and took a long shower after sanitising the bottle. And boy, it smelt so good! The entire Spa of the World range is known for it’s spa like fragrance, something that cannot be put into words. Here is how the website describes the product:

Indulge in a moment of pure euphoria and feel reborn when you lather up with The Body Shop Tahitian Tiare Bath & Shower Oil-In-Gel. Enriched with Monoi oil infused with Tiare blossom and Coconut oil, used by Tahitian women for centuries for lustrous skin, this exotically silky, soap-free, oil-in-gel formula envelops your skin in pure bliss.

Features:

  • Luxuriously rich bath and shower oil-in-gel

  • Skin feels silky smooth

  • Enriched with Community Trade honey from Ethiopia and Community Trade Coconut oil from Samoa

  • Ideal for any skin type

The texture is creamy and runny! I just take a coin sized amount on my exfoliating bath gloves (also from The Body Shop) and run it all over my body. The unique smell does not last for long, but the softness does. Since it is an indulgence in its truest sense (look at the price for the 250 ml bottle), I use it only  twice a week, alternating it with the other shower gels that I have!

Price: ₹895/- (250 ML)

Overall Verdict: The Spa of the World range by The Body Shop did impress me quite a lot. The packaging is pretty boring with the typical dark ombre plastic bottles/tubs with a screw-in cap. However, one thing is for sure! The fragrance of these scrubs, oils, and showers gels are so unique that it is almost impossible to find their replica. And Lord save you if you become addicted to them. But yes, one bottle lasts really long, so by the time it finishes, I’ll probably be so bored with it, that I’ll be itching to try a new variant! This range is very different from the usual regular ranges that I’ve tried from The Body Shop, be it the Satsuma, Wild Argan Oil, Strawberry or British Rose, whose dupes can be figured out. Nothing comes close to the Spa of the World range. Try it for once, and you’ll know what I mean! The price is pretty steep but yes, an annual sale will surely come to your rescue. Head over to their website to see if they still have these items on discount. Afterall, a trip to the spa will now stand postponed till this pandemic gets sorted, so why not indulge in something luxurious at home?

Will I repurchase them? Yes, if on discount I surely will.

Till then, take care.
