Vaseline Body Ice Cream Gel Creme Review | Skincare Post | New Launch | Honest Review
Hello everyone. This product review comes to you on popular demand. When I had posted my latest Nykaa Skincare Haul on INSTAGRAM, most of you had requested for a product review on the Vaseline Body Ice Cream. I was already using this product for the past few days, and upon your request, I bring before you a detailed first impressions review of the same.
When you think of the brand Vaseline, petroleum jelly is the first thing that comes to our mind, right? However, over the past few years, the brand has expanded its wings and has included body lotions, creams and gels. The latest product that caught my fancy is their Body Ice Cream Gel Creme. Infact, they have also launched Vaseline Ice Cool Hydration Lotion from the same range. They have intelligently devised the sky blue colour and name for this product, because the term “ice cream” is quite catchy and will immediately draw your attention! Nykaa was already offering it on good discount, hence I decided to go ahead and give it a try.
Key Ingredients: Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid. (Complete list in the photograph below)
Usage: Scoop a generous amount of the gel creme. Apply and massage gently across your body for cool, fresh and radiant looking skin. Use twice a day for best results
First Impression Analysis
Product Packaging – The product comes in a sky blue coloured plastic tub with a screw cap. It is sealed with an aluminium foil when you first open it. The colour itself has been cleverly designed keeping in mind the icy theme. Scooping out the product is easy and ensures no wastage. The tub can be reused to store your tiny essentials like buttons, safety pins, etc.
Texture – It has a gel consistency and feels lightweight. It absorbs into the skin easily and leaves no residue. It is non-sticky and non-greasy. No white cast.
Aroma – The smell is mild and will not irritate your nose. Infact, I am in love with the smell already.
My Review: The brand has advertised the product stating that this is a gel based cream which is best suited for hot and humid climate, like India. Infact, this has been designed keeping in mind to cool your body. The brand claims that it will set down your body temperature by 3 degrees, but I seriously doubt so! However, having said that, after application of this product, you will instantly start feeling cool and fresh. It has a mild cooling sensation that tingles your skin due to the presence of menthol in it. It spreads easily on your skin. I use it as an after bath gel. You can also use it after your waxing/shaving sessions as a coolant. However, do keep in mind that the product is cooling in nature and will not provide hydration, specially for dry skin. Hence, for dry skin people, this is an average product.
Yes, the gel creme can be used both on your body and face, so a win-win situation for lazy people like me! Please do keep in mind that this contains paraben. Also I have noticed that the effect of this gel creme does not last long, and you can barely feel it on your skin after two hours or so. Hence, reapplication is required.
MRP: Rs.225/- (165 grams) – I got it for Rs.163/- (It was on an almost whopping 30% discount)
Shelf life: 2 years
Why do I like it?
- Provides instant cooling
- Smells nice and fresh
- No greasy residue
- Tub packaging ensures no wastage in comparison to tube or bottle packaging
- Affordable because the tub will last for a season
Why I DO NOT like it?
- Does not provide any hydration
- Contains paraben
- The cooling sensation does not last for long
- While tub packaging ensures zero wastage, it is unhygienic when shared with others
Will I repurchase it?
Yes, provided it is on discount!
Available on Nykaa, Purplle
So that pretty much sums up my review. I hope you all find it useful. You can give it a try once if you find it on discounts, since this is an affordable skincare product. Thank you for the review,, I had it in my wishlist for some time but will definitely go for it.
Yes, but keep in mind that it does not hydrate.
Great! I am gonna try these
You can give it a try when on discount. You will love it.
I am usinng the same product but the long blue bottle named ICE Cool Hydration. I comoletelu agree with your comments. It doesn’t moisturizer your skin, gives cooling effext due to menthol for only 1/2 mins and yes it does contain Paraben😒
Yes right, this was an honest review 🙂
I love the name! Ice cream. This is such an honest review. I love how you’ve thought about recycling the tub instead of trashing it.
Pardon my zero (I’m being modest, it’s actually in the negative side of the scale) knowledge about skin care, but why is paraben harmful?
Yes, parabens are known for their ill effect on causing skin irritation and cancer as well. However it is one of the most common ingredient that acts as a preservative in cosmetics.
