Yoga se kya hoga? | First post of 2025 | TicTalkToe
Six months ago if you would have asked me, I would have probably been the last person who would have ever written a blog post on fitness! My last tryst with fitness was back in 2018 when I had joined the gym with a year’s subscription – only to have been irregular and quit later! I had a full time “work from office” situation back then, and the job role was quite demanding. Adding to my stress was lack of help at home and the fact that I used to work 6 days week. Then pandemic hit, I got pregnant, Tara was born, and my excuses of not exercising kept growing along with my weight. Until this year, when my backpain finally showed up and left me in a nearly paralytical state. I panicked, only to realise that I had not shed a single kilo of weight post pregnancy. I popped painkillers frequently upon my doctor’s recommendation, but the problem remained unresolved – I had to move my body to shed those kilos!
I still remember the day my cousin invited me to join Habuild’s Free Yoga Session – I was still in two minds whether to try it or not. Since the trial session for 21 days was absolutely free of cost, I decided to give it a try. They say that it takes 21 days to form a habit. Which means, the coin had two sides to it – either I would form a habit of doing yoga regularly, or quit. I started with zero expectations, but a positive attitude. There was something in the yoga session conducted by Habuild that was inspiring. It could be the flexible timings (they have 6 batches – 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening, and you can join any one as per your wish), or may be the easy format to start with, or may be the fact that nobody could see me from the other part of the television while I was practicing yoga, no in real, no one was judging me. If I had to improve my postures, it would be only for me. It was a 21 day free session, and I kept doing it regularly without fail. By the 18th day, I had made up my mind to join their paid program. There was a nominal cost involved for a year – Rs.4000/- for 365 days of yoga – close to eleven rupees per day. I did not mind shelling it out for the benefits it gave me in return – regular yoga sessions, dance programs, free physiotherapy online consultation, water intake reminders over whatsapp, regular sessions on various other aspects like face yoga, breathing exercises, suryanamaskar, and what not! Another aspect is when you invest your hard earned money into something, the motivation for continuing it only gets better. So I decided to enroll, and continue doing yoga everyday, without fail!
And this is what 6 months of yoga has given me-
- Discipline – It has helped me become a morning person and reach out to my yoga mat in the morning.
- Better control over breathing – I live in the 4th floor of an apartment (without lift). I take the stairs daily and no longer feel breathless, as I used to.
- Control over my emotions – I pause and think before reacting.
- Flexibility – Yes, to a certain extent! The back pain has not vanished but I am in a better shape.
- Being a role model – My three and half year old imitates me and reaches out to her yoga mat as well.
- Mindful eating – Yes the biriyani and fuchkas continue luring me, but I do a mental check of what I am consuming. Regular water intake and early dinner has become a part of my life.
If you would also like to try their 21 day free-session that is starting from 6th January, you may click here to sign up. It is free and will send you reminders for the session.
If you are looking for some inspiration to start this journey, may be now it is the time to do so. It takes 21 days to build a habit. Just give it a try, either way you will end up being fitter or will find another way not to attend classes.
Do you have any fitness goals for 2025? Have you ever tried yoga? Do share. Would love to hear.
