Cheesy Mushroom Pops | Recipe Post | Starter | Cook Na Kaho

Last evening, I had two packets of mushrooms sitting in my refrigerator. I did not want to make the typical mushroom pasta or the desi version of mushroom curry that I have been making for the past few months. I loved this dish that I had once had in a Cafe (though it looked extremely overpriced to me), and tried making an easy home-version of the same. The process is simple!

Just scoop out the button mushrooms and stuff it with ginger, garlic, onion and mushroom that has been sauteed in oil. Season with salt, pepper, paprika and sesame seeds. Add grated cheese over it. Bake it on a tawa or oven. Totally melts in your mouth. A great starter in itself. The detailed recipe is given below.

Ingredients:

  • Button Mushrooms – 2 Packets (Try and get large mushrooms)
  • Onion – 1 Large
  • Garlic – 6-7 pods
  • Salt – To Taste
  • Black Pepper Powder – Half teaspoon
  • Oregano – 1/4th teaspoon
  • Peri Peri Masala – 1/4th teaspoon
  • Onion Powder – 1/4th teaspoon
  • Garlic Powder – 1/4th teaspoon
  • Cheese (Processed/Mozerella) – Half cup
  • Oil/Butter
  • Cilantro/parsley/thyme

Procedure:

  • First wash the mushrooms thoroughly and pat them dry.
  • Next, cut the stems of the button mushroom gently, and scoop out the remaining so as to create a cavity in the mushroom for the filling.
  • Chop onions, garlic and the stem of the mushroom.
  • Heat oil/butter in a pan. Add garlic and then onion.
  • Season with salt, black pepper powder, onion powder, garlic powder, peri peri masala and oregano.
  • Add the mushroom in the end and fry on high heat so that the mushroom does not release water. Just cook for a minute or two and turn off the flame. Let it cool down.
  • Now take the mushrooms and fill the mixture in the cavity. Arrange neatly on a pan and add grated cheese over it.
  • Put the pan on the gas stove carefully. You may also bake it for 3 to 4 minutes till the cheese melts.
  • Season with chopped cilantro/parsley/thyme or any other herb.

Cafes charge around 200-250 for 8 pieces. I made 20 pieces for ₹200/- at home 🙂 Try it out and let me know how it tastes.
