Home Shanti Home | Real Home Decor Inspiration Series | Post Two | TicTalkToe
For me, home has always been the place I want to come back to after a stressful day at work. A place I want to return to, even after an adventurous trip or a crazy night with friends. Home for me is a place where I can host my loved ones and also my cocoon when I need some solitude. Quite naturally, home for me is a reflection of who I am, and who we are as a family. So, after months of searching, touring and weighing options, when we zeroed in and found our first house together, I was super excited to then build the home I have always dreamt of!Building a home is nothing short of nurturing a child. And if you are an OCD like me, obsessed with every wall and every corner, you are in for a roller coaster ride!I started off deciding the colour palette for the house, and blue being my favourite colour, teal was an obvious choice, which I paired with yellow! Then it was all about turning my home into my canvas and paint a poetry! I was experimental in my choice of furniture and I got them all customised to have a coherent look. The wall decors and artifacts, each has a story to tell, as they were hand picked from all around the country and abroad, as we explored our long list of destinations! A lot of the decorative items in the house are either hand made and hand painted by my friends or by myself, which I believe gives my space the kind of personal touch that I always desired.I think each room has a different style and yet they all come together as one… mirroring our seven years together as a family, while also narrating our individual stories…Because, home is where you are ‘you’ without any filters!
