My Colourpop Lippie Stix Collection Part One | Matte X and Matte | Review & Swatches | Dusky Skin | Indian Blogger

I keep hoarding on Lipsticks and exclaim “Sooner or later, I will review this on my blog“.

Fact : The lazy me never reaches out to her camera for clicking pictures for her blog!

So one fine morning, the lazy me decided to swatch all the Colourpop Goodies that she had acquired in her kitty!

Since buying cosmetics online can be a pretty tricky thing to do, specially without having reference to swatches, I decided to pen down this post with lip swatches. I hope this helps all those of you who share my skintone, and who are looking forward to make their Colourpop purchase. For reference, I am NC45 in MAC/Y430/445 in Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation.

The first and foremost factor that urges all of us to try Colourpop is their price point. Launched in 2014 in USA, this brand took the market by storm owing to its affordably priced makeup. Lipsticks that gives excellent colour pay off, stays long, yet retails for one-third of what any luxurious brand would price it at!

Their website describes Lippie Stix as

Get one swipe pigmentation in a full-coverage, matte finish in a super comfortable formula loaded with skin-loving ingredients like shea butter and Vitamin E.

Lippie Stix Formula contains Vitamin E, Mango, Avocado, and Shea butter for added comfort and moisture. None of our Lippie formulas contain any nasty ingredients like Parabens or Sulfates.

Matte Full-coverage lipstick that is super long-wearing, ultra comfortable, and loaded with pigment.

Net Weight 1.0g (0.035oz)

Let us discuss the formula first. The formula for Colourpop Lippie Stix has definitely evolved over time. They come in a variety of finishes, but I prefer matte ones, so I got myself a couple of them in Matte and Matte X formulas. The Matte ones are moisturising on the lips, but they do not last as much as the Matte X does! The Matte X lasts for a good 7 to 8 hours, and survives heavy meals. So a big thumbs up for the Matte X formula. Adding to it, their Matte X formula is way better than their Matte Formula. It glides smoothly over the lips and stays put in its place.

The lippie stix has a sleek pencil like plastic packaging, with the shade of the lipstick clearly mentioned below. The shape of the lippie stix makes it convenient to apply it on the inner corner of the lips.

Application

Step One – Start with freshly exfoliated lips! Prime your lips with our Lippie Primer for smoother application and more comfortable wear!

Step Two – Line your lips with a matching Lippie Pencil; this will help you achieve the perfect finished look and give the appearance of fuller lips.

Step Three – Apply your Lippie Stix and you’re good to go!

Moving on straight to the swatches now.

The photo on the left depicts the colour in daylight, while the right side depicts the colour in front of yellow makeup lights.
Bichette : Matte deepened red

Grunge : Matte mid-toned red brown

Are You Surreal : Vibrant hot pink

Poison : Matte brick red

Goldie : Matte X rich brick red

Infinite Best : Warm black cherry

Sky Walking : Classic blue red

Taurus : A matte mid-tone yellow brown

Here are the swatches of all the shades on my wrist, for your reference.

The lippie stix are reasonably priced at $5.50 only.

Pros:

  • Reasonably priced/affordable
  • Good colour payoff
  • Stays put on the lips (specially Matte X ones)
  • Sleek Packaging
  • Vegan/Cruelty Free Brand
  • Free from Parabens/Sulphates

Cons :

  • Availability in India (Or in countries apart from USA)
Buy Colourpop Cosmetics from their WEBSITE
(Shipping is free in USA above $30 and they deliver Internationally on orders over $50)
However, if you buy directly from their website and have it shipped to India, there are chances that your parcel might get misplaced or you might be charged customs over your order. So in my opinion, it is best if you buy from Instagram Sellers or ask someone in the USA to get them from you.
Hope you found this post useful. Check out my next post for Colourpop Creme Lux Lipstick Collection and Swatches

Would I repurchase?

Yes why not. Colourpop is one of the most affordable drugstore brands. Wish it was easily available in India!
