Home Shanti Home | Real Home Decor Inspiration Series | Post Two | TicTalkToe
Hi everyone. Wishing my beloved readers of Tic Talk Toe a very happy and prosperous New Year! May you be blessed with good health and happiness. In the fast age of YouTube Videos, I am glad people still take out time to read blogs. Looking back, I had started my Blog in 2017, however, I had contributed the most number of posts for Tic Talk Toe in 2020. The numbers made me happy because with every passing year, I have been able to devote more time for my Blog, and come up with quality content for my readers.
I know the wait has been long, but here I am, presenting our next series of Home Shanti Home | Real Home Decor Inspiration Series. Good things do take time, right? And this time, we are glad to feature the very talented Koyel Mitra and Rohit Mandal’s abode. Before I start, a little about Koyel….
Koyel is an Executive Producer and Editorial Manager with a factual entertainment channel, HistoryTV18. She is also a Classical Dancer with a graduation degree in Bharatnatyam. Currently she is pursuing Odissi. She is also a Pop Art artist and in 2017, she started her baby brand Aamii to celebrate the women of today! Clearly, she wears many hats with ease and elegance!
Let us hear it right from the horse’s mouth. Featuring what Koyel has to say for her abode….
For me, home has always been the place I want to come back to after a stressful day at work. A place I want to return to, even after an adventurous trip or a crazy night with friends. Home for me is a place where I can host my loved ones and also my cocoon when I need some solitude. Quite naturally, home for me is a reflection of who I am, and who we are as a family. So, after months of searching, touring and weighing options, when we zeroed in and found our first house together, I was super excited to then build the home I have always dreamt of!
Building a home is nothing short of nurturing a child. And if you are an OCD like me, obsessed with every wall and every corner, you are in for a roller coaster ride!
I started off deciding the colour palette for the house, and blue being my favourite colour, teal was an obvious choice, which I paired with yellow! Then it was all about turning my home into my canvas and paint a poetry! I was experimental in my choice of furniture and I got them all customised to have a coherent look. The wall decors and artifacts, each has a story to tell, as they were hand picked from all around the country and abroad, as we explored our long list of destinations! A lot of the decorative items in the house are either hand made and hand painted by my friends or by myself, which I believe gives my space the kind of personal touch that I always desired.
I think each room has a different style and yet they all come together as one… mirroring our seven years together as a family, while also  narrating our individual stories…
Because, home is where you are ‘you’ without any filters!
