Nykaa Matte To Last Liquid Lipstick | Product Review | Chai Swatch | Brown Skin | Dusky Skin
“Cha khabi?” (Will you have tea?)
Probably the only two words that seem melody to my ears after a tiring day at work!
I am a self-confessed tea addict! A famous saying goes, “Bangali maanei cha-ar adda!” (If you are a Bengali, you have an affinity towards tea and gossip). And yes, with cha-we want “ta” (this “ta” could range from onion fritters to the simple humble biscuit, or as we say “biskoot”). However, this post has got nothing to do with tea. Only that very recently, Nykaa launched eight new shades of their Matte to Last Liquid Lipstick range. However, unlike last time, where they had named it after cities, this time they chose to relate it with some particular word for a city. Like “Chai” represented Darjeeling according to Nykaa (Though tea reminds me more of Assam than Darjeeling). I had just ordered Guwa-hottie a night before Nykaa announced their new launch of eight more shades. And yes, as soon as I saw the first swatch of “Chai” (Shade No.18) on Instagram, I knew I had to buy it.
How Nykaa describes their Matte to Last Liquid Lipsticks –
Nykaa Cosmetics just dropped their latest line of liquid lipsticks. Not only does the gorgeous formula stay put all day long but it’s an ode to India’s rich heritage.
Before we move on to the review of Chai, you may want to read my review on Nykaa Matte to Last Madras Kaapi
Packaging : The Packaging looks very classy and compact. The Liquid Lipstick comes packed in a cardboard box, with a black and white print of Tea Estates. The box carries the ingredients, manufacturing details, shelf life, and the shade of the liquid lipstick is depicted on the box correctly (unlike Masras Kappi which was misleading!).
The main product comes in a tiny transparent block, with a black cap. Also you can easily locate the shade if you own more than one shades in this range. The applicator/wand is tear-dropped, pointed and short, which really helps in precise application of the product. The label beneath the product clearly specifies the shade along with its number.
Formula : The formula is light and it glided evenly over on my lips. It did not feel patchy even for once. It settled down to a matte formula within a few minutes. It did not feel uncomfortable on my lips at all. Honestly, I loved the formula, and it surpassed even some of the luxurious and expensive liquid lipsticks that I have tried. It was very well pigmented, one swipe and I got a beautiful colour over my lips. It is also cent percent transfer proof and smudge proof. It survived for around 4 to 5 hours, and I did have meals in between. When reapplied, it felt comfortable on my lips. Nykaa has definitely improved the formula from what it was when I had tried Madras Kaapi. Good job Nykaa!
Price & Quantity: Nykaa Matte To Last Liquid Lipstick retails for Rs.550/- for 5 ml of the product. Earlier the quantity was 4.5 ml at the same price, so Nykaa has worked on the quantity by keeping the price intact! Thumbs up Nykaa. They are available on Nykaa online and across all their stores in India.
I have swatched Chai for you on my lips. Notice the difference in the texture from when it has been freshly applied to when after a few minutes have elapsed.
This is how “Chai” looks on me after it has just been applied. Photographed in natural daylight.
And this is how it looks on me after a couple of minutes, when it has settled down. Photographed in natural daylight.
Overall, I am in love with this shade and formula. Nykaa has improved a lot on the formula, which is really impressive. This is one shade which will suit all skin tones, irrespective of whether you are fair, wheatish or dusky. This will be my go-to shade for the next few weeks atleast! This brownish-nude shade has surely won my heart!
- Comfortable Formula (This is the best of all, finding a formula that feels so comfortable on your lips!)
- Precise Applicator (Makes life easier for girls like me in hurry!)
- Reasonable Pricing (Pockets are also happy)
- Range of Shades – 18 shades to choose from! (I am eyeing “Jaan” right now)
- Cruelty Free and Paraben Free (Big thumbs up for this)
- It is not very long lasting, and is not known to survive heavy meals (Nykaa, please work on this! But given the price point, we really cannot complain!)
The colour suits you to tea 😉 beautiful shade indeed… loved the photot concept as well…
Thank you so much Anu. I brewed tea in the middle of an afternoon for these photos specially 😀
